Isocomp Compounds

Isocomp Technologies, a division of Fluoro Pacific, is a specialist Australian compounder of high performance synthetic and thermoplastic polymers. We partner with customers to develop and market specialised materials, that can be tailored to their specific applications. Our expertise lies in PTFE compounding and PEEK compounding with experience across a range of industries. With over 600 formulations, Isocomp can produce compounds to create unique materials that meet specific end use applications. We can produce small batch runs down to 75kg.

Other services offered:

  • Advice on material selection to meet specific applications
  • Formulation and in-house blending of special material compounds
  • 2kg samples for prototyping

PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene)

PTFE, a synthetic fluoropolymer of polytetrafluoroethylene, is commonly recognised under the Teflon® brand name and can be processed to form thermoplastic polymer products.

PTFE is a partially crystalline material, formed of long chains of carbon and fluorine molecules. The carbon-fluorine molecule has one of the strongest bonds in organic chemistry, which gives PTFE its exceptionally high chemical and thermal resistance.

As a material, PTFE has excellent chemical and thermal resistance, very good sliding properties and anti-adhesive behaviour, good electric and dielectric properties as well as being resistant to UV and weathering.

Compounds based on PTFE are filled with a range of different materials to enhance the required characteristics in demanding environments, including mechanical, thermal, tribological and electrical properties.

PTFE Powder Compound Types

Isocomp manufactures the following compound types with the following characteristics:

  • Non-Free Flow: For general compression moulding - (offering the best physical properties)
  • Free Flow: For large part compression and isostatic moulding and easier mould filling
  • Auto Mould: Fine free flowing material for automatic moulding machines

PTFE Powder Compound Fillers

As the need for more demanding engineering uses emerge, we blend and compound PTFE powder resin with other materials. This improves the physical properties required for the specific application. The formulation of these fillers can be tailored to suit your application.

The most common fillers to combine with PTFE powder are bronze, carbon, carbon fibre, graphite, molybdenum disulphide MoS2, polymide and stainless steel. For a more detailed view of PTFE Powder and the advantages of each filler please click here.

PEEK (polyetheretherketone)

PEEK (polyetheretherketone) is a premium thermoplastic used in the most demanding applications that are subject to high pressure and high temperature environments.

Fluoro Pacific specialises in compounding PEEK powder with other fillers such as carbon, carbon fibre, stainless steel, to create a product to meet specific needs such as:

  • Hardness and durability
  • Resistant to thermal degradation
  • Chemical resistance
