Product Datasheets

All our products undergo rigorous testing to ensure they are of the highest quality for our customers. Below are a selection of datasheets for our PTFE products to assist with you in choosing the right product for your application.

If you need any assistance in this choice, please don't hesitate to contact our friendly sales team.

Material Data Sheets: Glass Filler

Glass filled PTFE results in lower deformation under load at both high and low temperatures, and significantly improved wear resistance. This material still performs well in most chemical environments, and is especially popular with oxidising agents. The inclusion of glass has little effect on electrical properties.

8103 has a lower percentage of glass included than 8105.

Uses:

  • Piston rings
  • Valve Seats
  • Shaft Seals
  • Electrical Insulators
  • Bridge and pipe bearing pads
  • Gaskets

Material Data Sheets: Bronze Filler

Bronze is an alloy of copper and tin, our bronze filler is a non-oxidising alloy, providing consistent appearance in the finished product and a dark brown colour. Bronze filled PTFE provides excellent creep and wear resistance, with strong thermal and electrical dissipation characteristics. Bronze is not resistant to hydroflouric acid and strong alkalis, check with our sales team to make sure your application is chemically suitable for this filler.

Uses:

  • Piston rings (Compressors)
  • Bushes type bearings
  • Gaskets
  • Linear bearings and guides
  • Wear bands and strips
  • Hydraulic system seals

Material Data Sheets: MoS2 Filler

MoS2 (Molybdenum Disulfide) filled PTFE results in increased surface hardness and reduced friction. The addition of glass filler adds the benefits of low deformation under load and improved wear restance, with minimal effect on electrical properties. MoS2 filled grades should not be used with Hydroflouric acid and storng alkalis.

8170 provides improved lubrication, while 8176  has improved wear and resistance and less deformation under load.

Uses:

  • Hydraulic rod and piston seals
  • Guide rings and Chevron packings
  • Slide bearings
  • Valve Seats

Material Data Sheets: Carbon / Graphite Filler

Graphite filled PTFE has much lower friction and increased wear resistance, especially against soft metals. Graphite can be preferable to MoS2 as it is safe for use with a wider range of chemicals. Carbon / Graphite filled PTFE grades have good dimensional stability and hardness, as well as improved thermal and electrical conductivity. Carbon / Graphite filled grades should not be used with hydroflouric acid and strong alkalis.

8191 provides improved wear properties and chemical resistance, while 8192  has better flexibility for ease of fitting.

Uses:

  • Reciprocating compressor applications
  • Piston rings (non lubricated)
  • Piston seal wear bands
  • Dynamic seals
  • Wear and rider rings
  • Thrust washers
  • Sleeves
  • Bearing Rings
  • Bushes
  • Valve Seats

Material Data Sheets: Carbon Fibre Filler

Carbon Fibre filled PTFE has increased dimensional stability accross a range of temperatures. This grade has improved surface hardness and wear resistance, as well as good electrical and thermal conductivity. Carbon fibre filled grades should not be used with hydroflouric acid and strong alkalis.

Uses:

  • Valve seats - ball and gate
  • Bearings
  • Bearing pads
  • Piston rings (non lubricated)
  • Hydraulic/ pneumatic seals
  • Automotive seals (shock absorbers and water pumps)
